Designers are supreme innovators, creative problem solvers and solution finders, but the most important first step in any project is defining the problem – are you asking the right question?
Question the status quo, even when it feels scary.
Sweat the details, persevere, and push every project to be the best possible version of your design.
Without mistakes, there is no learning and no innovation. Figure out what you did, learn from it and move on.
Tailor your message, be a magician and a storyteller.
The first step in any project is defining the problem.
Promote positive choices that benefit end users and the environment.
Inspiration is everywhere. A wide range of interests make me a better designer.
Surround yourself with smart people with diverse skills and outlooks. Give your team ownership of the vision.
Creativity and the ability to laugh, especially at yourself, go hand in hand.
Always strive for the most elegant solution.
Engage the senses and create spaces that make people feel different.
Lighting is the magic ingredient in interior design. Without it, there is no color and no ambience.
Step 1.
I believe in depth, user focused research is essential - from lifestyle trend reports to spending a day observing front desk staff checking guests in, a multifaceted approach to research leads to the insights that elevate your design concept.
Step 2.
Design is emotional, engaging the senses and the imagination – we craft a narrative for every project and tell that story through imagery, form, color and texture.
Step 3.
Design development puts the meat on the bones of the story – using a wide range of tools helps us visualize the project and understand how it will look and feel to the end user. Creating real prototypes and samples is critical to delivering a final product that will inspire and engage our clients and end users.
Step 4.
Designing for a global audience means creating tools to help them understand and apply the concepts my team creates. Every project includes a dialogue with these extended teams, to ensure that we're delivering solutions that work for them. We also solicit feedback on the final product to allow us to make final adjustments and modifications.
